Re: A real newbie question, sorry !!!

Post by StellaMan »

OK, I am contemplating getting into mug printing, I currently run a PC & Laptop repair business but need to generate some more cash, certainly until I am more well known !!!

I know I have to get a printer that can print the transfer paper & I know I need a Mug Press, along with a few other bits & bobs, but my question is regarding the printer. Can I use it as a "normal" printer as well, or should I use it only for the transfers and keep my current printer for general printing ? If I can use it for both jobs, is that going to be a particularly expensive way of running a printer (are the inks for sublimination printers more expensive than "normal" printer ?) ?

Thanks in advance ...

Very short answer....

Sublimation printer needs sublimation ink. Look at something like the Ricoh A4, carts for sublimation are about £40.00 each so would be very very expensive to run as a normal printer.

Get a good SUBLIMATION printer (Epson or Ricoh), a recognised manufacturer of MUG PRESS and purchase Sublimation mugs from a REPUTABLE Supplier and you will be fine.

Good luck :-)

buy original, use original ,dont think you will save money by buying china ink and china paper, use the proper printer and paper and ink before you even start.£500 will set you up.

Sorry, 1st post I know, I will introduce myself separate. I can't agree with this enough, I'm over £300 into a printer which is useless all because I tried to do it on the cheap. I ended up spending another £225ish on a brand new Ricoh because I'd had enough. Buy genuine always.
