First Mug Suggestions

Here's the first mug i have done. It looks very grainy and not crisp.

I've used photoshop, Ricoh printer, trupix paper and BMS mug press.

Any suggestions on how to get it crisp looking?

stupid question but have you put the paper in the right way? also what time and temp are you using?

Is a particular side different? And I did 180 for 150 seconds

yes the way you put the paper in is very important, one side is usually more smother and lighter that the other side in a ricoh that side needs to be facing down try that i think thats your problem also are you pre-heating your mug? inbox us if you still struggling

No I didn't on this one. Just the warm up period whilst reaching 180.
I'll check which side I used at the office in the morning.

Hi. I believe you are cooking for too long and too high. BMS recommend 170 for 140 seconds. This worked for us as we have same set-up. Although the paper orientation is important as stated previously. Olly

Thanks for the replies. Ill try another one this morning. There was a possibility the paper was the wrong side too.

Am I better off putting the mug in from the idle temperature of 100 and then letting it heat up to 170 or putting it in when it reaches 170?

Hi Chris,

I would personally have a dummy mug in place from the idle temp, I'd have that set at 110 degrees C. Leave that mug in place and allow the temperature to climb. At 160 degrees remove the dummy and replace it with the mug you wish to press. The temp will drop by 10-15 degrees, then climb back up before starting to count down once 170 degrees has been reached. After that, machine goes beeeeeeeeeep, mug done. (Hopefully!)

Ive just done another couple of tests and the black seems to be a lot better on this one!!
