Re: Just wanted to say thanks....

I spent all last night and today digesting all the wonderful info you lot have provided.

It's been VERY helpful.

My requirement is just for mugs and I eventually decided on a Ricoh printer and Adkins press but xpres were all sold out until 8th Jan and being the impatient person I am I phoned up The Magic Touch and got talked into an ARC press (which are new to them and they say as good as Adkins) and Ricoh combination along with other essential items to get me started for £499 plus VAT and shipping. I even bought a grill plate off ebay for £20 to warm the mugs up with

Billy Bonus ...it'll be here for Monday

Now I initially want to make mugs as a marketing addition for my main business but if I can sell a few to pay for costs along the way then Kool and the Gang... I was quite surprised when mugs.org.uk was available. I know .org.uk aint brill but still quite chuffed.

Anyhow...I'm sure I'll be back next week after forgetting to warm my mugs, putting the paper in the wrong way, cant find template dimensions, forgetting to plug it all in...and burning my fingers so I'll catch you all then.

For now I'm going to sign out....because if I read another thing about sublimation this week....I'll go into overload.

Thanks again!!

Looks like a newer model/better engineered generic/no-brand Chinese press to me.

The Adkins "EZ-Mug" being pretty much the same, just with an Adkins badge on it. The Adkins "Mug" looks to be the same idea but more 'encased'

Ok thanks I'll let you know how I get on with it.
Paul at The Magic Touch said if he was spending his money now this is the model he'd be buying.
£199 on its own. (+VAT)
He did say it was new in from the US and I found this online vid which looks very similar to it in operation

Looks interesting but it's no Adkins :-) Let us know how you get on with it.

Sorry couldn't get replying earlier, but there are loads of presses which are very similar, but usually have a different control box. I've got a similar one fresh off the boat from China, but I haven't had a chance to open it. You'll only know if it is any good after pressing a couple of dozen mugs...much like any other press. £70 or £250, I don't know if there is a massive difference with any of these when it comes down to it.

Yeah thanks GG. Im hopeful but if this fails I'll prob go straight onto Adkins. Arriving pre Xmas with all the other gubbins allows me to get to grips with everything over the holidays though. I'll let you all know how I get on.

Know what you mean by "info overload" I recently joined too and have to say everyone has been really helpful and informative in their answers and opinions on products.

Good luck with the mug press, look forward to hearing how it goes

Having got a cheaper Chinese press, had problems and then used an Adkins press the conclusion I've come too is that my Chinese one is ok providing the mugs are very straight with absolute minimum taper but cannot cope with anything other than that (I got fading on the base edge) The same mugs press perfectly with an Adkins press. Sadly the Adkins was on loan and I have to give it back:(
