Hi everyone
im sure you must be fed up people asking which heat press to buy. But anyways here goes. I might be in a posistion to place an order for my Heat Press this week.
Right now I am hopping back and forward between the Stahls Maxx Jumbo 40x50cm platen
Or
Hotronix® Auto Open 40x40cm (STX16)
Or the
Adkins. XP7006A Swing Heat Press 20"x15" sold by Xpres
I think I am favouring the Adkins, but I do like the look of the Hotronix Auto. But if I went for the Hotronix I could only afford the 40x40cm size platen.
Does anyone have a link or photo of the Adkins Swing Away Deep impact, lower platen model as the images on the Xpres site both Swing Aways look the same.
Would it be worth going for the model with the lower platen. Is there any disadvantage starting with the Lower platen. I know it gives you the ability to heat press thicker items but Would I still be able to use the Lower Platen for T.Shirts ?. There is about £80 price difference.
Sorry for all the question....but thank you in advance for any advice you can give.
Another Heat Press ?
Re: Another Heat Press ?
if i have same money to spend i would go for XP7006A. swing away press will allow you press thicker items with more even pressure so is good for sublimation.
but it takes more room as you need to consider swinging space.
I'm after larger press too but i considerate Chinese swing away that is coming soon to BMS. guys swear for it and said is build like a tank.

Re: Another Heat Press ?
Will you be printing A3 or piecing together bits to make a print of A3 size.
Also consider that many presses have quite a difference in temperature at the middle compared to the edges so with a larger press there is more chance of getting a good temperature across your print by staying away from the edge.

Thank you Paul, pisquee & ArferMo
As I am very new to this i will be focusing on Childrens T shirts initially and hopefully Hen nights runs etc. For the last 10 years I have been a Quilter so most things where home dec orientated. I am hoping I will be able to apply some of this knowledge in this new venture.
The PressMech is just out of reach as I need to keep some of my funds for other supplies. So i think it is between the Hotronix 40x40 or the Adkins Beta Maxi 20x15.
ArferMo, at this time I don't think I will printing in A3 size.
There is a lot more to learn than i realised but I'm up for the challenge

Kath - we're just down the road if you fancy coming and having a play with a PressMech
Re: Another Heat Press ?
Pisquee, thanks for the Ebay link, but I have decided to buy new. I was lucky today to sell a large part of my quilting cutting equipment. One 12 ft Longarm machine to go. Thank you for the offer to come play with your PressMech. I'm a bit busy right now. It's amazing how much stuff you can accumulate after 10 years quilting
Cheers
