Hi,

Are there two slate products on the market? SubliSlate and Rock Slate?

Does SubliSlate have a matt or glossy finish?

Mine are labelled "Rock Photo" now I have had these from various suppliers, all labelled the same boxed the same, identical markings. Some arrived and the result was a very poor matt finish, as opposed to my normal gloss. Good job I test print orders when they arrive and keep consignments separate. The matt ones were terrible, really bad colour uptake (no depth).

Will be good to see if you find a way of working out the differences.

there were minor variations om the packaging of the awful matt ones, and the plastic feet were different too. but really subtle differences that are hard to explain.

I'm going to guess that this is where Rock Slate is being produced, these are Auplex slates.

but Sunfly have a coating they call SubSEEK™ I reckon these will all be budget coatings; matt is never going to look good with colour images.

The American market seems to have adopted the SubliSlate brand, so I'm hoping that this will be the 'Chromaluxe' of the slate world. If anyone has printed these, let me know what type of finish it has.

I have had slates though both Rock Slate, from different suppliers there was a slight variation on the colour shading of the boxes ! I have found a business "Get Sublimation" that sells slates in bulk if anyones heard of them, I'd be interested to hear of any reviews, they also do canvasses
