Re: Epson 7890 Profile
As an Epson engineer I agree the 9890 7890 9900 etc that range of head is not as reliable as the previous DX5 head in the 9880 7880 etc. The most important thing is to keep ink flowing on these machines do prints even when youve non to do. Dont do power clean after powerclean as this will make it WORSE try the old cleaning fluid under the head trick.

Mine is now 18 months old....doesn't get run on Sundays....I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Epson sell more machines than any other manufacturer by a LONG way (im also a canon and hp reseller), with all these machines there is going to be an amount of faliure. Obvioulsy as I said before I dont think these are a realaible as the older machines and I stand by that. But the big thing to look at is your envirenment, for example if its freezing cold over night and warm during the day this is not good consider putting even a duvet over the machine at night , if you do sublimation wide format theres not a lot of choice as only piezo based heads can be used so the same issues apply with a mimaki, a roland or a mutoh (all epson heads).purpledragon;98271 wrote:my printers run daily so no problem there i tried the old cleaning fluid under the head trick but no joy it seems its just a a bloody awful machine i spent a whole day ringing round engineers to try get help and without fail each and everyone said the exact same thing which was basically skip it! so although i appreciate you are an epson engineer and will undoubtably have far more knowladge and experiance of these things than me i cant ignore the opinons of all the engineers i spoke to wish id know this before buying oh well you live n learn

Re: Epson 7890 Profile
Sent an email to Sawgrass last week as nozzles blocking badly after just two days, no response. Print was left 3/4 days whilst I was away. I've come back to far more serious blocking, just going from bad to worse.
Really concerned over what Epson technicians are telling me about these printers. I'm inclined to purge the Sawgrass inks out and put Epson inks in to see if the problems persist that way.
Emailed SG again last night, no response as yet...and now it's the bloody weekend! Try phoning around 4pm and lines were busy, message left to call me.
So, reluctantly I carried out another Power Clean...I mean, flushed £££'s down the sink! All nozzles showing clear, print out a simple graphic and it looks very poor, this is probably down to the poor SG profile though. Printed on Ricoh 7100, far far better....also tested on Ricoh 3110 running out of date inks and this proved to be by far the best print out!
If this was any other product it would be returned to the shop. It complicates matters when SG have to take over the warranty as I can't speak to the original printer supplier....unless I put Epson inks in!!!

Put in cleaning carts and do an initial fill then a powerclean. Put a wetted towel under the head and leave the whole lot over night. NExt day put inks back in and initial fill again.
You may also have to remove the head and take off the manifold and blow the dried ink out. If its still blocked then the head has failed.
The Ricoh doesnt clogg as much as the head is 6picolitres in diameter as opposed to 3.5 of the epson so Ricoh print quality is not quite as good although youd be hard pressed to notice.
I have a GEL ink for the ricoh coming soon
do not buy ink that maufacturers state is good for epson AND ricoh this is NOT POSSIBLE

I'm not touching the 7890 as it's under DG warranty, they can come and sort it...or take it away and give me a blooming refund!
When did we start talking about mixing Ricoh & Epson inks? Must have missed that!

Nobody's being defensive so please don't get over sensitive, I merely have to protect you and all other members from suppliers who take every opportunity to report you to Sawgrass for using non authorised inks and your thread APPEARED to be heading that way. Let's keep it calm people.

Re: Epson 7890 Profile
SG are sending out a full set of carts. They want me to provide PRN's during a flush of each individual channel.
They're saying my 'nozzles are dropping'
