Re: Good printer to buy for a start up T shirt co ?

[h=2][/h][INDENT]I'm a designer setting up a T shirt company - I like the idea of sublimation as the print quality is great, no stock issues and it will give me lots of design flexibility.
I'm on a limited start up budget looking for a large printer and came across theses one. Having not actually put my toe in the water I wondered if any of you experts would give me advice as to whether these are potentially fraught with problems or worth the risk?

Many thanks

Bruno

This one can be easily converted for sublimation so the owners tell me

If you're technically minded and don't mind setting things up,,and a bit of problem solving, it's quite simple to convert a printer.

I'm reasonable technically minded but the problem is where do you go to get the instructions. I can't seem to find anything on YouTube. The owners of the first Epson printer listed said they can set it up - but is it a good machine I wonder. they suggested using inktec inks which are £45 per litre. How would I know if they are any good without screwing up the machine?

They are very good inks, but £45 per litre is an extremely low price to be getting them for, which would make me dubious as to their origin, or whether they are genuine.

instructions...
get printer
get refill carts
get inks
get roll of sublimation paper
put them all together
on printer, run an initial fill, this command usually in hidden service menu, google model of printer and 'init fill'
this will clear all existing ink and refill with the new sublimation ink.
once printer is printing well with new ink, may take couple of extra head cleans, nozzle checks, and realignments, go to Paul, moderator on here, to get a custom ICC profile made.
Then you're set to go.

Thanks for the reassurance Janners. I'.ve been reading a few horror stories of people selling gear because printers have screwed up and all profits lost.
I was wondering if there was any kind of independent tech service people about.

Independent tech repair people are rare, in essence most businesses buy a replacement printer when one goes wrong. A good google search local to you is the only hope of avoiding crippling call out cost.
