How to Get around Smell??
Re: How to Get around Smell??
Hey all,
When I first set-up my 3D machine (st3042) the smell I'd get when sublimating was pretty bad (using film may have had something to do with this).
It's not a problem in the office any more as the machine comes with a venting hose which now goes through a hole in the wall to outside.
BUT - I am considering doing some craft fairs/events etc that are indoors and would like to know if there is any kind of filter available so I don't get complaints.
Has anyone tackled this before?
Cheers,
John.

Perhaps a small fan blowing the smell to the sellers behind you. A little crafty though! Boom boom. Apart from that then a burning smelly candle, plug-in or see if BMS do sublimation nose-pegs. Yes, got to that time in the afternoon where mind wonders. Olly

Hi John
I have the same machine as you and do not get the smells you talk of (perhaps my own body odour is too strong
)
I am using paper and Sawgrass or Inktec ink. What ink are you using?

I use Sawgrass (sublijet R) inks also - I have a feeling it is the gold film I use that causes the smell.

Now there's a thought!
Thanks!
That sounds like a sensible option - I'll look into it.logobear;92443 wrote:you can get activated charcoal inline filters?

Re: How to Get around Smell??
I also have the issue of having a bad smell, and find it affects my asthma. So much so that I wear a filtered mask when using the 3D Heat Press (my lungs aren't great). The handyman here is very good and installed an extractor fan over the heat press which has helped. My unit is situated in a small room and I suspect the smell would be less noticeable if it were placed in a large or high ceiling room. I use Sawgrass inks and wonder whether the smell is to do with the process of the inks becoming a gas. Anyway, Ucase Ltd, are you still having issues?Ucase Ltd;92444 wrote:Now there's a thought!

Only Just seen this - sorry.
Not so much now. I was using film for almost everything but I've switched to paper due to untold issues.
A side effect of this is that now the smell is nowhere near as bad. It's till there but much better.
