Re: Epson & CISS, ink level warning?
Hi all,
I have been happily using my Epson XP 225 with a ciss, using sub dye inks, for about 2/3 months from new. Today I had a low ink level warning which I ignored & carried on. After only a few more prints the ink warning light came on the printer, and an onscreen warning saying inks not recognised. Now it wont print at all.
Is this an ink level / counter issue ? (plenty of sub dye's in the chambers of the ciss)
Any suggestions on how to over ride it, or cure it.
Many thanks in advance.
Chris.

Take cardridges out and back again. This should reset chips for you.

Thank you Paul, I did as you suggested and it worked,
I feared it was going to be far more complicated,
Thank you again, now sorted.

before you go to far with your ciss I would invest in refillable cartridges and ditch the ciss before you run in to more problems

WHY ?Paul;103157 wrote:before you go to far with your ciss I would invest in refillable cartridges and ditch the ciss before you run in to more problems
i been running 2 epsons wf3520's on ciss sytems no bother at all
granted, they both have printer pottys, and were PITA to get set up right, but once done, empty cart comes up, or not recognised, open lid of printer, hit reset button for 5 sec, job done.
easy fill from outside the tank.....any airlocks are easily delt with simple re-prime to get air out, and off you go...
yes, it not as straight forward as refilling cart while in printer, but even with the XL carts for epson, i was refilling often, and trust me, when busy, the last thing you want to hear is beep beep no ink...ok i can switch to other printers, thats no bother here, but for someone with only one printer, and busy, right pita bud
and it lot less messy

You must be one of not to many that is extremely lucky then
I had many ciss units and sooner or later i had some trouble with it. Air leek etc... So as a precaution i always stand against ciss.
