Yep ordered 1 from Amazon, turns up on time, install it, send an item to print. Well it made all the right noises and all the right movements but wouldn't print a thing!
Nozzle check....nothing. Test print direct from printer....nothing.

Check the ink cartridges are pierced, yes, so try a head clean to ensure ink is through, no change. Check the manual where it eventually informs me that if I do a print check direct on the printer and it prints nothing there is a printer fault.

Back to Amazon it goes.

The one I use for sub work has taken a right hammering hence the reason I ordered another one for other work.

Onwards.

I would have been happy with a replacement, but I didn't have this option. So on to plan B. I had considered the the Epson Et14000, but decided only 4 colours, however eventually through various people I have ended up with a users point of view "Bloody good". A little slow if you want full photo printing, but quality is perfectly good, sips the ink, doesn't clog (neither has my 1500 though), and Epson do a 2 year warranty on it, so they must be reasonably sure it will last!

Bit more money than the 1500 BUT, no Ciss or ink to be purchased and it will still be under warranty. So just ordered the ET 14000. Fingers crossed.

Is there a work-around for refilling those tanks? Do you need a code or something?

Not that I have read anywhere. I will be using it for a range of normal printing work, but I will be looking to see if there is any reason why I can't just pop some sub ink one. It is designed as an office printer (apparently!) so might last well.

There are L series Epsons which are 6 colours, don't think they were ever released to UK/Euro market, but may be able to order online - can't remember the model number, or whether they needed codes to refill though

Good morning Pisquee
I will not be needing really great photo quality printing from the ET14000 hence opting to give it a try. Of course my idea for it might turn out to be unsuccessful, in which case I will just have a spare printer sitting around!

The L18000 is the 6 ink one, as you say not officially available in Europe hence no warranty with epson, it is of course available as everything is. I did consider it, but as I couldn't find anybody who had used one, I decided to stick with the 14000 as it will do the job just fine. 2 years warranty, and reasonable running cost even on genuine ink.

I've been meaning to buy a 1500W for ages. Who was the supplier of the dodgy printer?

The printer came from Amazon,
Link removed.... because that wasn't it, I paid £194 with free delivery. They have gone up!

I have no complaints really as I'll put it down to just one of those things. The return process was simple, and collected the next day.

I had tossed a coin on the 1500w/ ET14000 choice so just opted for the ET14000 for a second attempt

I only ask because Amazon don't sell the printer, only Amazon marketplace sellers. jj-pc-store have the buy box, was it them? I noticed they sell imported printers without UK plugs!

I have just checked the invoice

Amazon EU S.à r.l., UK Branch60 Holborn ViaductLondon, EC1A 2FDUnited KingdomVAT Number: GB727255821

So I assume that is Amazon.....Though I may be wrong and it had a UK plug. Other items I have bought though Amazon have said "Fred Blogs etc" rather than Amazon. It was £194 which isn't listed now. Delivery was by DPD with a UK return address.

The current listing does show "JJ-PC-STORE".
