Is it usual for 75% of mugs to have dings/dents/imperfections in them?

Re: Is it usual for 75% of mugs to have dings/dents/imperfections in them?
I ordered a box of 36 mugs approximately two weeks ago, and when they arrived I was swamped-under. I took a couple out to see what they looked like and they looked fine. I recently started pressing the mugs, and to my shock the majority of the mugs had dings, lumps, and imperfections in them (I wouldn't be able to sell them).
I have checked on the supplier's website, and sadly because I didn't check them within 48 hours I can't be able to send them back. A lesson learned, but not a mistake I will make again! :frown:
Can I ask is this usual for sublimation mugs? How many mugs do people usually find with dings/faults per batch?
I didn't buy them from Ebay, I bought them from a big named supplier.

If it's not transit damage and looks more like manufacturing defects then they have not got a leg to stand on NAME & SHAME if they want to use the 48 hour excuse and it's not transit damage...... goods not fit for sale distance buying.

Well they do say that they accept returns, within 14 days, but customers have to pay the postage! And because I started pressing the mugs, (the ones that weren't damaged) I don't think it would qualify for a return (I'd promised some mugs to people, and had to fulfill that).ArferMo;117335 wrote:If it's not transit damage and looks more like manufacturing defects then they have not got a leg to stand on NAME & SHAME if they want to use the 48 hour excuse and it's not transit damage...... goods not fit for sale distance buying.
As I'm just starting out, I can't afford to be buying faulty batches. So it's a mistake that I won't be making again.
So it's not usual to get so many faults in mug batches then?
The company I used were Subliblanks. It's a shame, because the other products that I ordered from them, including smash-proof mug boxes, are really good.

I've never used subliblanks I've used most of the others and to be honest It's unusual to get one or more with defects in a box of 36 in fact apart from a box that a courier seemed to play football with I cant remember getting any defects this year.

It's not transit damage, these are defects in the actual mugs. A few have lumps/bumps on them, so they're not smooth, and many have dings in them, some have what look like piercings in the mugs, as if a large needle has pricked into them. Although some of these are small defects, it doesn't look professional, and would leave me vulnerable to bad feedback and returns.ArferMo;117338 wrote:I've never used subliblanks I've used most of the others and to be honest It's unusual to get one or more with defects in a box of 36 in fact apart from a box that a courier seemed to play football with I cant remember getting any defects this year.
Thanks for letting me know that this isn't usual. I had read on some threads on the forum, that other people have encountered similar problems (although they didn't say who their supplier was), so I wasn't sure if this is usual or not.
It looks like I'll need to change supplier then.

At a guess I get 1 or duff mugs per pallet. A few years ago I had some mugs with manufacturing defects (which is what you have), sent a photo to the supplier. They arranged a credit in 48 hours, and just asked me to bin the mugs.

It's worth a try I suppose. But looking at their terms and conditions, I missed the initial window to report the faults :frown:. I'll photograph them anyway, and I'll try to post them on here later, to show what I mean.JMugs;117340 wrote:At a guess I get 1 or duff mugs per pallet. I ordered 108 mugs off fleabay. They're all gone now and I had ,at most, a half a dozen that were unacceptable for sale. (I'm talking actual defects, not my experiments with sublimation!
). In a sad way, it's gratifying to hear that the 'big boys' are sometimes no better than the dreaded fleabay.

I avoided fleabay for this very reason. But if sounds like if I had ordered from Ebay, I'd have had more mugs to press! :rolleyes:webtrekker;117343 wrote:I ordered 108 mugs off fleabay. I presume youve bought these mugs before from them? If so, Id order another box of the same mugs sometime in the future ( Im sure they will be ok this time) and then send the faulty ones back saying they were the ones that had just arrived.
If they want to play the 48 hour rule then thats what they deserve.
