Hi guys,

Does/has anyone on here sold before on Etsy? It seems to be a lot like EBay, however I'd like to know people's experiences of buying /selling on there.

Thanks everyone!

We have a large shop on Etsy and find it very good. Far better than eBay, fees are sensible and it works well for us.

You can configure different payment methods. Listing costs are low, to make a successful shop you need to pay for marketing, promotions etc. and it's a constant job. Takes a lot of investment (time more so) to get items noticed.

I've been readin up on this and am also really interested in starting an etsy store - if someone can share details or if I can see the store too pls Justin.

Is it easy to list stuff up? ebay does my nut in listing stuff even with the new incarnation of turbolister

Oddly we set up an etsy shop today. Starting from nothing to having a shop with 12 items initially took only 45 mins. As Justin says the hard work is no doubt in marketing.

I had an Etsy shop which i gave up last year, it was a tough gig but overall done very well out of it!

Some tips i learned...

It will take time to get sales... build up your own store reputation and generate more sales by favouriting other crafters store and items. They will tend to like you back with your products. it's also good for your store SEO too. You are limited to 15 keywords i believe still, worth looking at your competitors product keywords.

Register on the Etsy forums (within Etsy) - lots of advice on there.

Apply to trade at Etsy local, these are events that are very busy! There are also Etsy meetups all over the country.

You are able to bump your products with PPC ads, just make sure to have a strong niche and unique keywords to separate you from the rest of the bunch.

Join two big Etsy facebook groups - "Etsy UK Sellers Social Group" and "etsy resolution alumni 2016 - uk" - they have frequent networking threads and tips going on.

Do not overload your store with products early on or else you'll pay out a lot in fees.

And make sure to download the app and set up your till notification.. it's a nice feeling when you hear it go off when an order is made:)
