these are selling for 3.99 in shops , so even at the 1.19 ex vat and postage, not much profit wiggle room . Shame

I can not be certain but worth a call to Neil Brothers.
They have a few fridge magnets on their site. Some of them say "PLASTIC" and others don't. It might be that they might be ceramic.
ALso https://www.wholesalesublimationsupplies.co.uk/ have some QTY 200 is @ 78p plus VAT

If you are tying to compete with the bigger sellers you will not be able to. They are purchasing blanks by the thousands (normally direct from China) and then printing them in huge numbers each pressing. Also, reading between the lines you are already at a disadvantage as you are not VAT registered (that's am assumption on my part so apologies if I am wrong).see so many on gift shops selling at low prices , there must be a cheaper source out there somewhere
You need to offer something better. Perhaps look at other shops where they promote artists or local businesses. Offer free delivery if you can by driving them there on your way to shopping (for example).
In other words do not try and compete with the mass produced sellers as you will be very hard pushed to do so.
