Re: Sublimania Raw Back Coasters - Advice Needed

Post by UK Printed Mugs »

Hello all. Anyone use sublimania raw back coasters? We are having an issue with tape marks on the back so probably something we might be doing wrong.

We print thousands successfully onto the sublimania cork back coasters without any tape marks (leave over night before peeling) nor any issues with Unisub raw back.

We use brown 20mm heat tape (not cheap stuff) and press at 180c for 80s.

The print is perfect but whether we peel straight away or leave it is pulling the backing off.

Not having any luck talking with supplier about issue sadly so anyone on here use them and can offer advice (e.g. different heat tape)?

Not tried that particular supplier but we've seen this issue in the past and not managed to solve it

That's partly why we're starting to make our own coasters. Fed up of poor quality and service and high prices.

I'll try different tape but understandably the supplier said they sell thousands of these coasters and no one else having an issue which makes me think the error is my end. Although after 9 years of printing coasters I'm scratching my head. If you're going to get into the game of cutting your own uni-sub board and want some customers you know who to come to :-)

I'm also fed up to the back teeth with being told I'm the only person that these things ever happens to and we've sold trillions without issues. Coincidentally I'm about to name and shame a supplier that have treated us very badly, not something I do lightly but members need to know

Yes, I will post when I have the coasters available. We can do Unisub but have also found a material we personally prefer as well.

Can't wait to hear about the coasters and supplier. That is why a forum is such a good idea so we know who to go to OR not.

Totally agree with this when dealing with some suppliers...... no one else has a problem a.k.a. not my problem. You learn which suppliers to take their claims of how incredible all their blanks are with a substantial pinch of salt.

That said I get the other end of it.

customers complaining that their window decals are coming off or not sticky.
and want a refund or replacement.
I sell lots of window decals and have so many customers that have had them fitted for years without issue.

When I question the application I can tell they haven’t bothered to read the installation instructions where the 1st point in bold is to wash the glass and dry it.

pictures sent of the decal clearly show dirt on the adhesive side of the decal.
