Hey guys, wondering if anyone can advise please? I'm so undecided.
Had a Ricoh 3110 and it was belting, used it with ink4inkjet inks and it worked hard for years and very rarely let me down. Two weeks ago it finally gave up the ghost so I thought I would buy a SG500. Now I presumed this one would work the same way, that I'd be able to get refillable cartrides and use the ink4inkjet ink... how wrong was I?
First mistake I made was buying the bundle with the smaller ink cartridges. I've barely used any ink and already my yellow is on 1% and black on 4%. I'm gutted and feel as though I've made a huge mistake.
Ideally I would like to change inks to a cheaper brand, because Sawgrass are clearly ripping us all off.
Has anyone been in this predicament please and how did you solve your problem?
Unsure what to do - Sawgrass SG500

A lot of the ink use will be down to filling the ink lines for the first time, so yield isn't as bad as it seems at first.
Having said that you can get a new Epson with Inktec inks for less than the cost of four new SG 500 xl carts. (£229 from Inkexperts).
Inktec inks are considered to be better in terms of colour and black density than the Sore Arse equivalent. Might take some trial and error to get the best colour profile but cheaper in the long run - 100ml ink refils are about £10 per colour.
(Only for PC users - doesn't work well with somne Mac or Android devices.)
Don't consider Epsons own sublimation printers - expensive and not good colours.
.
Put the sg 500 on ebay while it still has some ink in the carts.

Personally I would grab some refillable ink carts and get some Ink Experts ink (far superior to I4E for a start).
