Welcome to the forum Dave. You'll get plenty of suggestions for the next step but it may be better to post in another section as well to get greater exposure to your question.

hi Martin thanks for the responce, ive been looking at the BMS site a lot over the last week or so. can you recommend a printer i should think about, not wanting to mass produce or anything just the odd mug or two every now and again untill i decide which direction i take, eg teeshirts, caps , etc

My recommendation would be the Ricoh GXe3300. Simple to use, comes supplied with PowerDriver for ease of colour management and it just works. We don't print a great deal, but today for example the printer has been left sat looking around the office for 10 days or so, brought up a document to demo for a customer and clicked print with a perfect output. If you're only doing a bit of printing every so often the I'd go for the Ricoh. If you are local you're welcome to pop in and see it in action, but lots of people have this printer now so they may be able to comment as well.

Epson S22, £20-£30, untill you know what your doing,
But you would need a icc profile (ask paul)
And the sub ink costs a fair bit and could block printer heads if not used regular,
For a few mugs here and there could be quite exspensive

Hi, thanks, hopefully a few mugs here and there will lead to thousands of mugs being printed each day :rolleyes:sensor;44858 wrote:Epson S22, £20-£30, untill you know what your doing,

got to start the dream small and work up.
how much would ink cost me for the Epson ss2? Is it single cartridges or bulk, is it a good printer to start off?
thanks for the advice etc
Re: well here goes! where next?
Well.... I would not recomend this printer for new starters. As sublimation is NOT trouble free. So if you dont want to play about then more expensive, but suported setups are more for you. But if you mor like me - bit of macGaver guy then you can have a go with cheaper epson. I know you can have great results if set up corectly. Or you can try brother
best printer i eve had.
Regards to cheaper ink you can get inktech of ebay bu i belive is only for large format. Thats what they say in auction any way.... I never tried this in so can not comment on quality.

Re: well here goes! where next?
I use the Ricoh GXe3300 purely because I don't print something everyday as I run my Sublimation along side my vinyl work.. and it saves me having to deal with blockages etc, which are not only time consuming but can be costly..
In my personal opinion it may not be the cheapest way to start out but if you know it might sit there for days at a time.. probably the best start
