Re: Olympic Torch

Waited for a hour for the torch to go by my house, loads of police cars ect , the crowds was getting bigger then the bus drove by, no runner, they are all on the bus. I was really disappointed I expected someone to run by with the torch, I wasn't the only one, kids started to cry and loads of comments, like was that it. In my head ( must be a age thing ) the Olympic torch is to be held and a group of people designated to take turns to run so far and hand over. But its a modern world and the torch and runners takes a bus then gets out every so often to nun for a few moments, maybe I expect to much.

Bloody shameful..........IMO it's just a load of hype to make the 'big wigs' feel good. The Police escorting the 'torch' will be offered counseling to help them 'reintegrate' back into 'normal' life after their 6 weeks of escort duties......what a load of guff (can't write what I really think 'cause I'd probably be banned.....hehe)

I was on the Tamar bridge and saw the runner go by holding the torch up.
Looked like a big cornetto with a Zippo lighter in it. As a family we had fun, plenty of people in good spirit. Even the police were jovial. Do feel it's a lot of fuss.

Still it's nice to see the money being used wisely and not squandered on school or hospitals etc.
