Re: Advice on faint transfers please

Post by mummywebb »

Hi I posted a few days back introducing myself and I got myself an Epson S22 some ink and paper (xpres). I printed a trial coaster (from BMS) and although the print on the paper looked good and vibrant colours it didn't seem to transfer to the coaster very well - it's very very faint.
I've googled but I'm not sure what the problem is. I pressed at 190c for 50 seconds (as per the instructions).

Are faint images normally a result of incorrect pressing or something else?

Thanks in advance.

What ink have you got? It would be unusual for the image to be vibrant when printed onto paper - that doesn't sound right.

Non supported ink it would be fair to say. When I say vibrant I mean it was like a normal print is that not right?

Ok so the image looks decent just didn't transfer well is the issue the ink, the paper (very hard to tell which is the right side to print on!) or not pressing long enough?

1. Have you got & are you using a ICC profile for the colours?

2. What ink are you using, is it sublimation ink?

3. Did you remove the plastic film if it was on the coaster?

There's lots of inks - is it sublimation ink or normal dye based ink?

No but I can get an ICC profile I thought that was just if the colours weren't correct?

2. What ink are you using, is it sublimation ink?
Well I am assuming so I bought sublimation ink in refillable cartridges

3. Did you remove the plastic film if it was on the coaster?
There was no plastic film on the coaster I bought the fabric sub coasters from BMS

Is you press 190 degrees C or 190 degrees F? Does the display go up to 350-400 - if so then it might be a F machine (waits for the puns to start about a F machine now...:))
