PayPal service limitation
Re: PayPal service limitation
Has anyone had their Paypal account frozen pending security verification?
They have severely limited my service without any prior warning which means I
can't accept payments or make them through Paypal. I've been a verified PayPal account
holder for years.
I appreciate the fight against fraud but I've read that it can take up to a month
to sort out. Great timing cheers! They are requesting photo ID along with proof of
address. I've had some very disgruntled customers who have gone elsewhere.
...and breathe!

Re: PayPal service limitation
What reason did they give? I've seen accounts frozen because of certain limits being reached, I.e. Business using personal accounts etc. But these are quickly rectified.
Re: PayPal service limitation
The only reason that was given was "We need to confirm some of your account information" no indication of limit concerns.
I have a business account and a personal account for all things ebay. Both have been frozen until they review my docs.
My gripe is the immediate cut-off without any prior warning. It's not as if they are losing out!

Have you made a large purchase recently or moved a large amount of money ? they resricted my account a couple of months ago because i bought a big item this only lasted a few days could it possibly be this ? have you rang them ?
Re: PayPal service limitation
Just a maybe stupid question on my behalf.... was it an authentic notification from PayPal? Did they address you with your full name in the notification? If not, it is a scam mail to get you to pass on your details. Have you checked the actual account on PP?, if there is a problem, it will be flagged on your account and state the reason for suspension. You can ring PP and chat to a live advisor who can, usually re-activate your account there and then. They sometimes do this to check that the account has not been compromised due to some form of odd activity, or an extra large amount of sales/funds being deposited to the account etc. I have known friends accounts to be frozen due to overseas sales transacted through their Personal accounts instead of their business accounts (as Justin, said, this could be a reason)
To view links or images in signatures your Beer count must be 10 pints or greater. You have currently drunk 15 pints!.

No joking aside nothing out of the ordinary.

It all looks above board. I've signed in to both accounts and they require specific info and I have researched on the internet. I will get on to them again in a while. Thanks for all your replies.arko;60300 wrote:Just a maybe stupid question on my behalf.... was it an authentic notification from PayPal? Did they address you with your full name in the notification? Re: PayPal service limitation
Similar happened to a friend of mine and he was frozen for some time. Best adbvice they gave me, never let your money build up, get it out asap, that way at least the implications won't be as severe.

Chance would be a fine thing, I spend more out on Paypal than I ever get in.Justin;60305 wrote:Best advice they gave me, never let your money build up
I think in all these 'security related issues' the issue we have is not knowing why we are being checked and what we might have done wrong to cause the issue.
I do hope they solve your problem soon and if not they can always send their Paypal monies to me to hold

Re: PayPal service limitation
i agree with justin, anything over £75 comes out, if i need to purchase something and their method is paypal, then my balance gets transferred back in from the bank.
i would be on the phone with them, and not get off until its sorted, meanwhile, update your paypal account details if you can on the website, and get someone else to take the payments in for you
