Re: Pressure on flat bed press

Post by JBDesign »

My flat bed arrived today (yay!) but I can't use it until the printer and stuff turns up in a day or so.
But I was wondering, how do I know what pressure to set it to? Do I just keep it on the setting it arrived with? There seems to be no mention of it in the manual at all. I don't even know how to tell if it is the right pressure or not, or what the 'right' pressure might be. . . Once I am up and running, what are the signs that tell me the pressure is wrong? . .

I did do a search for 'pressure' but nothing relevant came up. .

I seem to recall a vinyl supply company that did pressure sensitive strips for checking the pressure on heat presses but can't remember who it was (old age I guess)
It's really a case of trial and error, but remember to allow for whatever your pressing when adjusting the knob.
There maybe some vids on you tube that might help.

Thanks, I'll check out youtube, though the few vids I have seen say helpful things like 'don't apply too much pressure or the tile may break' . Ok, I shall know when I reach too much pressure, but I'd rather not break expensive blanks ;-) I shall ring the supplier, they would know, presumably.
