Re: Would anyone like to see my latest creation?!!

Hi everyone,

Well it's been over about 10 days now since I got my kit, I have printed 49 mugs, sold 6, kept 4........and I think you can guess where the others went (well actually my flower mugs I did tests on went to the local charity shop as a set of four "seconds" they were very pleased!!!)!!! It's proving to be a very enjoyable experience, the plan is to sell mugs, but I'm treating the whole thing as a hobby until I'm totally at ease with the whole process. I think I pretty much have the printing side of things wrapped up, every mug now comes out with consistent results.......I just need to get my head around Photoshop (I've been an avid user of Coreldraw for many years but it seems photoshop is used more when buying templates).

So with all that in mind, I'd very much like to share my latest creation with you......the photos don't do it justice really, it's turned out very nice :-) all the photos are scanned, and had some "fixing" done to them

Obviously this "result" is due to the excellent help and advice I've had and picked up from this forum....so thank you guys and gals :-)

I like that sort of layout on a mug, makes the mug a story board.

If you can get more light onto the background behind the mug, so that there are no shadows there, your mug photos will "shine" a bit more.

Colours wise, you prints don't look quite on - your blacks are looking a bit brown, and your browns a bit red, and the red tie looks over saturated. What printer, inks, and printer profile are you using? If your working in Photoshop, you should use soft proofing mode with the printer ICC profile, to see this before you print.

Yeah I need to sort out proper lighting, it was taken in the kitchen without a flash and ambient light, so not the best......that could account for my colours too....in real life it looks better, but I appreciate your tips....it's all a big learning curve!!!!!

As for inks and printer profile, I haven't got an ICC profile done, so this is within the limits of the profiles available. My printer is an epson Xp-215 inks from ebay!

see paul on this site, pay around £25 for a ICC profile for your printer, inks and paper and you should notice 100% improvement, but as your mug goes i would be quite pleased with your results for now images look ok to me but with a profile you will surprise yourself.
