Re: Multiple Printer Setup
Hi guys,
Just curious as to how people have their printers setup.
Obviously, the easiest answer is 1-printer, 1-port. But that's a little impractical for me!
I've tried one of those switched USB Hub thingymujigs...despite saying printers in the ad, the laptop doesn't pick any up. It will work with the Cameo though.
So short of having to have a dedicated PC in the garage with a million USB ports (alright...slight exaggeration...), anyone got any other suggestions?
I'm currently down with a pretty serious case of man-flu. So you'll forgive me if I've missed anything obvious.
(My dearly beloved thinks I should shut-up and take a dose of man-the-f...chuff-up, apparently it's only a cold...)

Re: Multiple Printer Setup
All my printers are networked, so I can print from any computer, which I have a number dotted arround the place as well as my laptop. In fact I have just installled another printer to the network, which already is picked up by all the computers!

Re: Multiple Printer Setup
How have you gone about networking the printers?
I know the Ricoh's all have an ethernet port on them...but other than that, I'm not sure where to go?

You need an Ethernet switch. Grab yourself something like this

You plug one port into your router and the other ports into the Ethernet ports of your network printers. You then have access to multiple printers.

Re: Multiple Printer Setup
wifi is an easy solution. I have 4 printers connected up to my computer. ! is through usb and the other 3 are connected with wifi.
The only issue I had is with running 2 Epson XP-900s, it's a bit more of tweaking and playing around to make sure the right computer driver is used with the right printer as one is pigment dye for posters and prints and the other is my back up A3 sub printer.

Re: Multiple Printer Setup
You mentioned the laptop not picking up the USB hub? Just a quick thought, was this hub powered or non-powered? This can make a difference.
Re: Multiple Printer Setup
nearly all printers on network.
get a powered usb hub to add more to your laptop, or better still, buy a desktop pc with more grunt and lots more usb ports.
While at it, definitely get an extra screen, - at least 1 extra !
