Vinyl for Glass

Hey, I'm looking to try decorate glass, more specifically pint glasses for a client of mine, is there any vinyl that would be usable for this?

Preferably black vinyl.

many will stick, but can be picked off !

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

Tried dye sub as a test, but he ink is just far to transparent and doesnt look good.

They're wanting nowhere near enough to have the job outsourced.

So wondering if vinyl would be the route or is there something else I could do?

Vinyl will eventually wash off.

Short of etching (you can do that with a vinyl stencil and etching paste), or engraving, there's not much else available that would withstand the rigours of handling and washing.

Is vinyl quite robust that way, these glasses are not for commercial use, just home use.

Stencil/etching night be a way to go, do you have any linked info you could give me on that?

There is a way to do it that is relatively easy, and if for home use is a way to go...

Contract out to someone who can print using a White toner based system. They can print on a paper that is known as HARD SURFACE LIGHT. They can print your design which can then be heat pressed on to your glass (assuming you can get your glass into a heat press).

Once printed this will withstand hand washing ONLY. However, you can also get a varnish to give a light spray over the whole image which will mean it withstand a dishwasher. The below image has a glass bottle that I was tasked with. The end result was really quite durable.

For the record, I can print on hard surface light, however my white image drum is running very low meaning there will be too much residue left in the blank area for me to be satisfied with supplying you. However there are others on here that can probably do it for you.

Is the white toner, like the transfers people do on oki printers etc?

The pint glass I used for testing sublimation fits into my mug press, and is toughened so can with stand the heat etc.

Do you have a name of the spray?

Yes, mine is an OKI711WT, obviously there are other models out there.

I think the spray I use is called FROG JUICE, available at Signworldz among other companies.
