Ahhh HELP. ICC Profile Problems. Photoshop CS5

There was a guy on Ebay a few months back, selling an ICC for Epson S21/S22 printers, that he said he had had "professionally made", and had had to print and post a lot of mugs for scanning to the guy doing the ICC creation. When I asked this guy about the ICCs, he didn't even know what ink was in the printer he use for the prints used in the mugs printed. So, selling an ICC made for one specific cheap printer, with unknown inks, and expecting it to work well on all printers of the same model, and even making money out of it ... I wonder if this is the source of the OP's ICC.

Yeah i see what you mean. However the guy i bought the printer off sold the ICC profile seperate. I told him that i would buy the printer if he gave me the ICC profile.. Was not going to pay for it when he already had it...lol

I am defo gonna get Paul to do one for me though.. I only bought the epson s22 as it was cheap. I want a brother printer to be honest but wanted to give it a go before i spent time setting up the brother. I know what inks im using so thats a start...lol

Printed 2 cups off last night and both turned out spot on. Will get some pics up as soon as I get on laptop.

I did not use the profile you sent me so will load that up and have ago with that.

I must say that I am quite impressed with the results to say that the ICC profile is not that good however I am leaning to getting a custom one done as I am a sucker for quality.

Anyways this is what I changed. I read what WDR said and adjusted pressure first. I put my designated mug into heat press and heated up to 180. I then switched the mugs over and waited for the mug to heat to 180 and then started the timer for 180 seconds.
Switched mugs over again so that designated mug was in press to save blanket, took of the paper and dunked in warm water.

PERFECTO

Well glad to hear that things are progressing nicely now. I never dunk my mugs in water, I just pull the paper off and cool under a fan. I have decided to buy a S22 printer just to see how good (or bad) these really are. I think at £20 and refillable cartridges at £8.50 the outlay wont be a lot to see the issues first hand.

Have to say I havnt dunked any of the mugs ive done. I just leave them to cool naturally. I'm using an eprson SX435W.

As far as epson s22 is concerned I am quite impressed with the quality of print to be fair to say its a £20 printer.

Defo getting a brother printer though at some point.

as mentioned earlyier here are the results from the recent mug pressing.


This first one is using the profile without any alterations to the image.

This one is using same profile but changing brightness up by 90 and also contrast to 30.

Paul has made some changes to profile to lighten the print which i have not had chance to try yet and when i do will edit this post so i have a comparison. But atleast the images are looking good on the mug and it is being pressed correctly.

The sublimation process means that at 180 degrees the inks are transferring into mugs. If you have, e.g. a bright blue against a bright yellow then leaving the mug to cool naturally could lead to the inks bleeding together where they touch. The cooling process is nothing to do with sealing but to take the heat out of the mug so that the sublimation process stops. The water could be boiling (i.e. less than the heat of the mug at 180 degrees C) to stop the process, but ice cold water may cause a shock to the mug and crack it. Different people use different processes for cooling.
