Re: Ricoh Aficio SG 3110DNw bad quality photo on mug.
When we do photo mugs or artwork with high surface areas of flat colours then we have to change temperature and duration when pressing. Usual mug (normal graphics) we do at 170c and 140s but photo mugs we do at 180c and 180s. Olly

Thank you Olly,
i will ill try increasing the time and temperature. I usually press at 180c for 180s so I will try 190c for 220s and see if that helps.
Why does it need extra time and higher temperature for photos?

Hi Tracy. I read you have a Ricoh so to be honest I wouldn't go above 180c which was the max temp suggested by BMS to us. At 180c and 180s then I would say this is fine. The only other suggestions I personally have would be your paper type (are you using TruPix or the BMS pre-cut mug paper as these are the best in my opinion), are you using quality mugs (again the BMS European RN coated mugs are the best we have used and we have tried lots!) and to make sure your mug press wrap isn't past its end of life. The plug-in wraps do need changing apparently every 500 mugs or so. If after checking you think there still is a problem, email me your artwork and I will put it through our process and we will see if we get the same issue. Olly

Thanks olly. It is an epson printer that I have. I will try the higher temperature and let you know how it goes.

Hi Tracy. Yes, a higher temp may be needed for Epson I've read in the past. Olly

have to say that those mugs look just like ones that could do with getting the bottom of the mug much warmer before they go in the press. I have had the same problem and preheat has always cured it.

Thank you all. I have increased the temperature and time to 190 for 190 and the images are perfect now. Thank you for all your help
